FAQs: Lamps - Ballasts
Can Litecontrol fixtures be dimmed? Q: What is the difference between a T5, T5HO, and a T8 lamp? A: There are several differences: diameter, length, and lumen output. A T5 or T5HO is 5/8" in diameter, and about 2" shorter than their nominal 2', 3', 4' and 5' lengths (i.e., the 4' lamp is 45.2" long). The T5 is comparable to the T8 in lumen output. The nominal 4' T5HO is 5000 lumens or roughly comparable to two T8. The T8 lamp is 1" in diameter and exactly 2', 3', 4', and 5' in length. The lumen output for a 4' T8 lamp is 2800 lumens. back to top Q: Can Litecontrol fixtures be dimmed? A: Yes, various dimming ballasts are available for T8, compact fluorescent, T5, and T5HO lamps. Dimming ballasts and dimming systems are not interchangeable and should be specified as a system. The specifier is responsible for ensuring that the dimming ballasts ordered are compatible with the dimming system specified. back to top |
