Educational Support

Litecontrol actively supports lighting education for industry professionals and offers assistance in many ways to help the lighting students of today develop the knowlege and skills to become the lighting industry leaders of tomorrow. Litecontrol supports these educational activities: Lighting Education
Providing direct assistance in the education of future lighting professionals, our programs include The LITECONTROL Scholarship and other grants. Scholarship awards from $1,000 to $10,000 are available to students in degree programs leading to professional careers in the lighting industry. Research
Luminaires: Litecontrol fixtures can be offered for use in the conduct of experimental research that has relevance and potential benefit to the lighting industry. Particular consideration is given to research relating to lighting applications for indoor spaces using fluorescent lighting. Acknowledgement of Litecontrol support is required in the final paper, report or thesis.
Research Funding: Research topics identified by Litecontrol that relate to indirect or indirect/direct lighting may qualify for full or partial sponsorship. Interested researchers should contact Litecontrol with details. Acknowledgement of Litecontrol support is required in the final paper or report.
Thesis work: Litecontrol may provide lighting fixtures and/or financial support to defray some or all of the cost incurred by a graduate degree student in completing thesis research requirements. Thesis must be directly related to the lighting industry and must involve the use of indirect or indirect/direct fluorescent lighting for indoor spaces. Thesis candidates should contact Litecontrol with details. Acknowledgement of Litecontrol support is required in the final thesis.

Education
Guest Lecturers: As an industry leader in the development of architectural lighting systems, Litecontrol maintains a staff of experts in lighting design and applications, optical design and fixture design. Lecturers are available to participate in class discussions and/or lecture on specific topics. Interested organizations should contact Litecontrol for details.
Field Trips: Litecontrol hosts field trips to its facilities in Hanson and Plympton, MA for student or industry groups interested in research, development and manufacturing of lighting fixtures. Interested organizations should contact Litecontrol for details.
IES: Litecontrol maintains active participation in IESNA activities. Company employees are involved in various committee work, including the following:
  • Office Lighting Committee
  • Quality of the Visual Environment Committee
  • Sustainable Lighting Committee


Industry Learning Programs
Litecontrol one-and-a-half day continuing education programs for specifiers of lighting products. These sessions are for AIA and NCQLP learning credits and begin on Thursday evening at 6:00pm and conclude on Friday at 5:00pm. Click here for a typical agenda and for further information.


Other Support
Luminaires: Lighting fixtures for facilities and buildings used for lighting education or research may qualify for a full or partial donation of Litecontrol fixtures. Facility or program managers should contact Litecontrol for details.
Grants: Litecontrol considers requests for grants to fully or partially fund equipment or material purchases for buildings, facilities or programs dedicated to lighting industry education or research. Facility or program managers should contact Litecontrol for details.

Acceptance of requests for support in the form of donated fixtures or financial consideration is solely at the discretion of Litecontrol. Acceptance of some requests may be contingent upon recipient agreement to provide certain academic services in consideration for such support. All decisions are final.


Catalogs for Lighting Educators
Litecontrol offers Catalogs and product literature free of charge to educators and students of lighting on an annual basis. One full Litecontrol catalog (binder) may be ordered each year to keep your information current. In addition, student catalogs (folders with 8-10 products) may be ordered in "class-size" quantities to provide students with industry examples of luminaire technical and photometric information.
