Cradle to Cradle Certification

Our long-standing commitment to sustainability and our continuous improvement processes earned Litecontrol Cradle to Cradle Silver Certification for all products manufactured in our Plympton and Hanson, MA factories. Ours are the first architectural lighting fixtures to achieve this certification. We work hard to provide the support that enables designers to meet the qualitative needs of the visual environment, while ensuring that our products and practices have a minimal impact on our natural environment.

Cradle to Cradle is the leading "green" certification program using a multi-criteria approach to address product design and manufacture from a broad-based sustainable perspective. It is the brainchild of renowned architect William McDonough and pioneering chemist Dr. Michael Braungart who formed McDonough Braungart Design Chemistry (MBDC). MBDC administers the Cradle to Cradle program, evaluating products and awarding C2C Certification.

The C2C process evaluates products based on five criteria:

• the use of environmentally safe and healthy materials
• product design for material reutilization, such as recycling
• energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy in manufacturing
• efficient use of water and maximum water quality associated with production
• instituting strategies for social responsibility
