Schools

College and school construction spending is forecast to average $36 billion annually for the next 3 years. Population growth is one reason. Another is that the average school is over 40 years old and must be renovated, according to American School and University Magazine.
Computers have had as great an impact in schools as in offices. Productivity is also a major issue. Research by Leibowitz, Ruberg, and Brainard from Jefferson Medical College at a Philadelphia inner city school indicated that a well lighted environment has a positive impact on behavior and learning.

Litecontrol invented the first Cove system, Cove-45, in 1980, to replace staggered strip in a cove. The system is designed to sit in an architectural cove and provide effective perimeter lighting, eliminating ugly shadows at the sockets on the wall.

It all started in 1987 with a "Low Ceiling Indirect" fixture that was 90% efficient and could be mounted as close as 9" from the ceiling. The "LC" family grew in the 1990s to include LC-90, the first 90% efficient indirect/direct that could be mounted as close as 12" from the ceiling, and now LC-93 and LC-94, updated indirect/direct extruded shapes.

The Mod2 Family is the latest generation of an “industry standard” Mod fixture design from Litecontrol. The new generation of Mods represents a progressive evolution in design. Mods are available in a small fixture cross-section for suspended, surface-, recessed- and wall-mounted applications. A choice of T8, T5 or T5HO lamping and three baffle types for versatility.

Radi-X
In terms of efficiency and performance, you could say that X marks the spot. The Radi-X uses an exciting new baffle material, the exclusive LiteCycle resin, in an innovative design that maximizes visual comfort. The combination of radial and axial elements in the Radi-X design carefully cuts off any potential glare from the lamps, while still delivering light in a highly efficient way.

The fixture can be pendant- or surface-mounted, using T8, T5, or T5HO lamps. Mounting can be on-module or at various positions along the length of the fixture. With a small-scale extruded aluminum housing and an elegant, grooved pattern along its entire length, the fixture design complements and blends easily with the surrounding architecture of a space. Add to that a choice of three unique baffle designs, providing up to 19% uplight, and you have an entire family of fixtures unlike any fixture you have seen before.
